Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box goes directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Tucker County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained for the time needed to respond and manage the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine technical details are recorded when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help analytics services combine traffic information, such as popular pages and points where visits end. A browser can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Maintaining site availability and page performance
- Finding and repairing technical faults
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tucker County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies how to reach the Tucker County Sheriff, the local courts, the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, and the West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern information submitted through those tools, including retention and sharing. Review the selected provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to courts, the Tucker County Sheriff, West Virginia agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. After a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks placing content on site pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so a loss, breach, or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be submitted.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. West Virginia's government-record framework includes the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, while W. Va. Code §15-2-24 limits dissemination of the state's biometric criminal-history information. Those laws govern official records and do not turn this private site into their custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about the visitor
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion when the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
